We are in the fortunate position that the horse archer ZOLTÁN GERE, a student of Lajos Kassai, who recently took part in the Royal Windsor Horse Show, settled here in Roscrea.
Zoltán Gere is, among other things, the keeper of Kurukori traditions! He was a member of the approx. 2003 starting from Hungary, organized by Péter Csepin. For a 3,000 km horse-riding memorial tour, to Turkey, Rodostó to the Rákóczi house.
The program begins in the indoor equestrian centre with a presentation by archer Zoltán Gere, where we can learn about the timeless value of the Hungarian horse and man on horseback.
Then, dismounting from the horse, he will show us the equipment of the Kurukor horse and rider and the traditional Hungarian horse tools in an interactive way.
Afterwards, Zoltán, with the help of his students, gives a taste of the use of Kurukori weapons, which we can try out. (sword, spear, carbine). We can also see a demonstration on the technique of spinning the hoop whip, an indispensable accessory of the time. You can try this too!
The next stop of the program continues in the room on the upper level of the hall building, where Zoltán Gere will give a travel report of his trip to Rodosto combined with a projection.
In the meantime, you can even try riding outside in the riding arena.
In the "Inn to Captain Tenkes" buffet, you can enjoy kuruc stew, labanc langos and many, many more Hungarian delicacies!
After Zoltán's travel report, the film Captain of Tenkes will be screened. Meanwhile, on the sandy ground of the galloping track, archery for children and playful adults, followed by a playful clash between kurucs and labancs, begins. The wargame ends with recruitment, training, dueling, tug-of-war and battle.
During the program, you can make crafts and take funny photos in the Betyár corner.

Finally, leaving the riding school, we light a candle at the 'Magos kreśt' in the town in memory of the heroes of the Rákóczi freedom struggle.
