The history of our institution
A Corki Magyar Kulturális Klub keretén belül működő Cork Hungarian School and Kindergarten 2010. szeptember 12-én kezdte meg működését. Induláskor 13 diákkal kezdtük meg a tanítást Cork belvárosában, a Nasc (Irish Immigrant Support Centre) épületében.
Due to the ever-increasing number of students, education now takes place in classrooms on the 3rd floor of a high school building, and we deal with the younger children in the Montessori kindergarten building also located in this area.
The lesson lasts on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., 26 times, from September to the end of May for the age group 3-16.
The kindergarten
Our classes are built on each other in a planned, step-by-step manner. The level of difficulty increases gradually, taking into account the individual needs and load capacity of children.
Our goal is for children to get to know as many Hungarian fairy tales, poems, songs and song games as possible, and to record as many of them as possible in their toolkit.
In the pre-school program, we strive to ensure that the children move forward in such a way that they have all the necessary skills for successful learning, and that even starting school is a positive experience for them.
With these methods, we promote more successful and easier learning in the future.
In the kindergarten group, we work with children aged 3-5, where listening to stories, learning folk songs, circle games and games in the mother tongue, and traditional care sessions add color to the sessions.
Our goal is to expand children's knowledge, develop skills into abilities, especially by taking into account and nurturing Hungarianness, the Hungarian language, Hungarian customs, and Hungarian traditions.
The school
First group - Alphabet elves
In this group, children can learn the basics of writing and the Hungarian alphabet.
Each time we focus on a new letter, get to know Hungarian cursive writing, learn basic words, nursery rhymes and folk songs.
We use playful, experience-based methods to develop speaking skills and language use.
We introduce children to the rhythm and culture of the Hungarian language.
Our goal is to make people fall in love with the Hungarian language and lay the foundation for language safety and self-confidence.
Second group - Feather twirlers
This group is based on the foundations of the Alphabet Elves group.
We continue to learn the more complex letters of the alphabet, we embed the new letters in words, writing, playful tasks and conversations.
We expand the vocabulary, develop the skill of creating sentences, and start laying the foundations of Hungarian writing.
We get to know proverbs, folktales and nursery rhymes.
We specifically deal with the Hungarian folk culture and way of thinking.
Third group - Language adventurers
This group is for those who already use the Hungarian language more confidently.
We finish learning the alphabet and begin to use it consciously.
We deal with wording, text comprehension, and story creation.
We work with poems and songs and give opportunities to develop oral and written self-expression.
The goal is for children to be able to use the Hungarian language in a homely, creative and courageous way in various situations.
Instead of the traditional class assignment, we divide the children into groups based on their language knowledge and language use skills.
This approach allows each child to receive attention and development appropriate to their own level, so we can more effectively support their language progress.
